Appointment of PSEA Director of Labour Relations

I am pleased to announce that Mr. Robert (Rob) D'Angelo has been appointed as PSEAs new Director of Labour Relations.

Rob will be commencing his work with the PSEA on August 23, 2010 and will be filling the position in which Anita Bleick has served for the past year with some overlap until October 1, 2010. As the PSEA Board and I agreed, I will myself be continuing as PSEAs CEO until the end of September 2010, at which time Anita will become the CEO.

For the past two and a half years Rob has served as Managing Consultant, Collective Bargaining Services and Strategy with the British Columbia Public School Employers Association (BCPSEA). Prior to joining the BCPSEA Rob worked for eighteen years for another public sector employers association, Metro Vancouver Labour Relations. In that time Rob progressed through a series of roles including Research Analyst, Compensation Analyst, Negotiator, and finally Senor Negotiator. As Negotiator and Senior Negotiator Rob acted as chief spokesperson at numerous bargaining tables and as second chair at a number of additional tables. He has also worked on a range of labour relations matters including contract administration and strategic planning.

As PSEAs Director of Labour Relations, Rob will be providing strategic advice, direction, and assistance to PSEAs member institutions in the areas of bargaining, contract administration, and policy and mandate development.

I and the PSEA Secretariat staff are very much looking forward to working with Rob in his new role. On behalf of his new colleagues and all the PSEA member institutions, I welcome Rob to PSEA. Over the next few months we will be arranging for him to meet our member institutions CEOs and senior administrators as well as the personnel in government, the unions, and other organizations with whom PSEA works.
